Whited to Join Education Faculty at BJU

Julia Whited

GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 12, 2017) – Julia Hensler Whited will serve as Instructor in the Division of Teacher Education in the School of Education at Bob Jones University this fall. Whited previously served as adjunct faculty in the School of Education and as a substitute teacher at Bob Jones Academy.

“Julie’s prior experience in the field of special education will be a great asset to our program,” said Dr. Brian Carruthers, dean of the School of Education. “Her willingness to invest in the lives of our teacher candidates will allow them to be ready on their first day in the classroom.”

Whited earned a BS (1997) from BJU and an MEd (1998) from Clemson University in Special Education.

In addition to her work at BJU, Whited has served a substitute teacher for the Greenville County School System and as a private tutor in the Greenville area. Whited also served as a teacher at Lake Forest Elementary School, where she taught a self-contained class for students with learning disabilities.

Outside of the classroom, Whited has served for many years in her local church and in the Greer community with Create, a community outreach that provides art camps for elementary age students.

“I am passionate about preparing the next generation of educators,” said Whited, “and am thankful for the opportunity to do that as I join the faculty at BJU.”

Whited and her husband, Dale, live in Greer, South Carolina, with their three children, Katelyn, Kaylee and Kaden.
