GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 14, 2017) – Ross Shoe will return to Bob Jones University as Assistant Professor and Department Head of Studio Art in the School of Fine Arts and Communication this fall.

“We are excited that God has led Ross Shoe back to the Art & Design faculty after a brief hiatus away,” said Dr. Darren Lawson, dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication at BJU. “Ross is an exceptional artist and teacher, and our students will benefit greatly from his expertise and pedagogy.”

Shoe earned a BFA (2008) from BJU and an MFA (2011) from the Academy of Art University in Painting.

Shoe previously served at BJU as an assistant professor of Studio Art and taught various courses in painting, drawing, illustration, and art appreciation.

Shoe has done a variety of commissioned pieces for several private owners as well as larger organizations such as Toccoa Falls College, Akey’s Inc., and Iams Corporation. He has also participated in a number of group and solo exhibitions in South Carolina at the Anderson Arts Center, Center for the Arts in Rock Hill, Art Crossing in Greenville, Spartanburg Library, and BJU. He has also participated in exhibits at the Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana, and the Buffalo Jump Gallery in Stevensville, Montana.

“Having taught at BJU in the past, I am looking forward to the opportunity to reconnect with students and peers as I serve on the faculty once again,” says Shoe. “I feel as though I am returning with a fresh perspective, ready to teach the skills necessary in my field but also grow in my faith alongside this truly amazing group of believers.”

Shoe will also serve as the Framing & Exhibition coordinator for BJU’s Studio Art program and will be teaching courses ranging from Painting to Directed Studies and Professional Practices.
