Attendance Expectations

During the academic year, chapel meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00am to 11:40 a.m. On Thursdays, day students meet in FMA for discipleship groups. On Fridays, men’s and women’s societies meet in various assigned locations.

Day students taking 12 hours or more are expected to attend chapel/discipleship groups/chapel daily. An exception is made if you have no daytime classes on a particular day or if your only class is at 7 a.m. or after 5 p.m. If you have no scheduled classes between 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on a particular day, you may obtain a chapel exemption in order to work that day if you will be attending chapel the other three days of the week.

Day students taking 7 to 11 hours are expected to attend chapel two days each week. You are not required to attend society meetings if you are taking 11 or fewer hours. Please submit an exemption for the days you are missing.

You may not “combine offers” in order to miss more chapels than normally allowed. For example, if you have no Tuesday/Thursday classes, you may be exempt from chapel on those days. However, you may not combine that exemption with an internship that also takes you out of chapel.

McKenna, under the Campus Life tab of the home.bju.edu page there is a form you can fill out. You can come by the office if you are having a hard time finding it.
